As a nutrition scientist, Dr. Alwine Kardinaal's activities are focused on substantiation of health benefits of foods and food ingredients, advising NIZOs customers on research strategy, study design, health outcomes, and interpretation of results. After her training as a nutrition scientist and in nutrition epidemiology at Wageningen University, Alwine's activities have focused on scientific substantiation of health benefits of foods and food ingredients. If there is a health benefit, it is also important to be allowed to communicate this to consumers. Therefore, she also focuses on the requirements for the use of health claims: combining her experience in designing nutrition trials with knowledge of regulatory issues can help customers select the most effective approach in building a dossier.
Alwine will be joining the panel of What’s next? Probing the gaps in research and opportunities for the future
